ABSTRACT
Within the framework of this article, we examine the stability of circular curved bars, if the support is not symmetrical. The bar was supported by a joint at one end and walled in at the other end. Its load consists of a concentrated force in the radial direction. The stability equations of the geometrically nonlinear mechanical model were derived from the principle of virtual work, and their solution can be written in closed form. By mapping the equilibrium paths, the smallest critical force at the limit point can be determined, which can lead to the loss of stability of the bar. Comparing the results of the new model with the calculations of commercial finite element software, we found a good match.
